This pretty much says Green Mountain Head, doesn't it?

Tina Pic celebrates her victory in her last race at the Mayor's Cup in Boston, MA.

And even though he didn't win, Ted King from the Cervelo Test Team was part of the winning breakway. And he rode in the Giro D'Italia this year.

Jeff being a gracious host and showing Bill Greer (I think) around the Charles.

I think that Hillary's boat might be the second oldest Hudson at the boathouse. (I think someone has a wooden one). Seems to work well enough, though. :)

I, for one, was glad to see that NU has invested in glow in the dark vests. Next step--wear them at night? Maybe their suicide pair squadrons from years past will be less deadly this year...

Oh, yeah, and I went to watch some Irish dudes play some tunes last night. And that was taken with my point and shoot--so at some point, I was fifteen feet away from Bono.

Linda looks concerned about something. Possibly safety. Also, a pretty cool shot in the background where you can see through all three bridges of the powerhouse stretch.

Pete and his new(to him) VanDusen. Cam, I am just going through all of your favorite people now. :)

Sunday, September 20, 2009

Guess who's back on the water? That's way more exciting than that whole HOK nonsense. :)

Chris reports that Harry was doing very well this morning.

Fly by. It's not quite the Carey/goose combo from Canley, but wins bonus points for totally unplanned duck participation.

Thursday, September 17, 2009

And now, back to our regularly scheduled sculling. Admitting the existence of pairs resulted in about 20 of them rowing in the powerhouse stretch this morning.

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

As the blog is becoming more and more popular, faithful reader Mike Farry was able to ask Kanye West what he thought about one recent photo.

Admitting that collegiate crews are back is a multi-step process. I'll start with pairs and work my way up to eights eventually.

Pretty epic sunset last night--with an assist to Brett for getting my attention.

The man, the legend, the Kevin. Inventor of various ways for us to torture ourselves in a focused and fun manner. :)

First Charles piece since 2007. Yay! Thanks for shooting, Skip!

The first time I came to this race was in 2007, with Margaret. She was racing, I was just photographing--the first Head of the Kevin was the next day(sound familiar?) It was about a week after we moved in together, so for once, no one was late for the departure. It was a big step for us, and we were both really excited about it(living together, though, to be honest, I was pretty excited about Margs not being late, too :)

Ironically, I brought my bike along then, too, to ride after the racing, but, much like today, I ended up not riding it. Margs' race didn't go very well, and she wasn't feeling that great, so she just wanted to get the hell out of there. Margs really liked this race series, so she was extra unhappy to not do well.

At the time, we thought she was just over-trained. In a few months it became pretty clear that this was far more serious, but at the time, we didn't really give it too much thought.

Which brings us to today. Winning my age group here today (thanks, Mike Baker, for racing elite) was pretty special. And even though the bike course was flooded, and it turned into an aquathlon, it was really, really awesome to see that 1 next to my name in the division column. If there was one race where I really wanted to do that, this was it.

And on that note, the 2009 triathlon season is over. It's (mostly) rowing time for now. Who knows what 2010 will bring?

The beasts patiently lie in the shadows, biding their time...

Thursday, September 10, 2009

It was too windy for most of us to attempt rowing. But Fred is tough. So be sure to pay your dues on time. :)

Somewhere, Zondervan is thinking--"Dave stole my shirt!"

Charlie, Esther, Tim, Heather. Just chillin'

Meanwhile, I demonstrate surprising versatility (holding 100-400 lens in other hand).

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Marblehead Harbor.

Charlie catching some air kite surfing by the Cape Cod Canal breakwater

And carving some waves.

Rolling Rock! Ask Tim. You probably had to be there.

Day 2.

Cue Jaws music.

Esther looking very focused during a game of Liar's Dice.

Going to the vineyard to catch up with Charlie, Esther, Tim, Heather, Pete and the Rascal.

View off the stern of the ferry to Martha's Vineyard

View off the bow.

This apparently is turning into scenery week. Sorry, clear nights and full moons will do that sort of thing to you. Yeah, that is the moon.

Lining up for pieces on Tuesday morning. I felt SOME rowing footage was necessary.

Nice night in the basin, eh? Thank you 15 second exposures and tripods.

Not really sure what that Thoreau character saw in Walden Pond..

This is how I know that September 2009 is going to be better than September 2008. Best view in the world.
