Just another quiet day at Riverside...

Sunday, June 29, 2008

I'd put up the picture of our HEAVYWEIGHT Elite National Champions in the double, but I don't think I've ever actually seen them row a double. All the more impressive, then. And nice work in the light single, Mr. Hashaway.

Miranda put the lightweight sweepers to good use--buoy making! Supervised by IRA Champion Leah Downey.

Also congratulations to Will, Muff, Liane, and Esther. The gallery of senior national team members is now complete.

Thursday, June 26, 2008

Also, congratulations to RBC Alums Matt Muffelman, Hannah Moore, Wendy Tripcian (I guess I should use her proper married name :), and Esther Lofgren. And good work to those who raced, even if they came up short.

Also, congratulations are in order for John Nichols, and the burglar, err. Alex Rothmeier

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Zombie!

Err, I mean--"Congratulations to Rob Zechmann for winning the US Senior Lighweight Single trials."

No, actually, I think I really did mean--YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Zombie!

There are SOOOOO many inappropriate comments you could make about this picture.

So, good luck at Henley, guys! :)

The Charles got a little angry on Tuesday night. Never seen anything like this here. Ever.

Monday, June 23, 2008

We heckled Will and made him pull hard and race the Charles River Cruise boat (not pictured).

"Must have lost his seat race" or "Must be married to the stroke seat"? You decide. :)

Nikolay's also been known to pull a mean oar or two...

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

A new Charles River lifeform. This one's a heavyweight, for sure.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

The sweep women may have mentioned that there wasn't enough pictures of them on the blog.. So of course I waited until at least one of them was sculling. Though Rachel and Kit are still rowing a pair, so that counts!

Chasing the flag... Pretty appropriate for Roth and Nichols..

Sunday, June 15, 2008

Ok, these are actual summer rowers.

Saturday, June 14, 2008

Looks like the collegiate summer rowers have finally arrived.

Friday, June 13, 2008

John tried a standing shove into a wake... Let the record show that he succeeded. It's the seated push that got him... Unfortunately, as you will note, he was Oakley-less when he came up. Both of us went diving for them, to no avail. Since I went diving for them, I feel less guilty for posting this. Happy Friday the 13th!

Parking: $5
Swimming: Free
Running: Free
Seeing a 2008 Olympian in Triathlon practice: priceless

There are some things you can see on the Charles. For everything else, there's Walden Pond.

Bottom: Jarrod Shoemaker, 2008 US Olympic team, Triathlon
Top: Ethan Brown, 2007 US U-23 Triathlon Champion

The top matches the collars, but clashes with the hull. Rowing is ok, though. Good work, Meg.

Sir Velo was ready for racing on Friday

It was sunny, warm, not windy, and relatively uncrowded. Especially if you row at 8am. Cam, this is a fairly pathetic attempt, but who is this not-masked sculler?

Monday, June 09, 2008

New members are now coming in from the water too. Also in this picture--ridiculous amounts of pollen in the Charles.

Saturday, June 07, 2008

Apparently, so was I... Not pictured--actual swimming. Probably just as well, since they shortened the swim by about a third due to fog. Results.

Dan Boyne gave a very informative talk on his book about Jack Kelly, at Riverside.

Jefe is taking life behind bars in stride.

Yes, boats do get washed around here. Not pictured--club boats getting washed around here.
