Fun with animated GIFs. More fun than Friday and first half of Saturday. Hey Cam.. Oh, never mind. :)

To Margaret's wake on Friday and coming back from her funeral Saturday. Kind of a weird yin-yang thing going on. Except the whole concept of having to make such a trip sucks.

There's rowing at the Met! I'd have more, but then the security guy told me that I wasn't allowed to use the flash. Also, they ran out of the rowing poster. (The exhibit was British Prints between the two world wars).

Some fall foliage by Weeks. Off to NYC/PA for the rest of the week. Cheerio.

Nice catch, Aleks. Really, really, really nice catch.

To welcome me back, some dude ran a truck into the Charles. This lucky EP officer was charged with searching for it.

A life well lived. Some photos taken by Stanley Hu, now borrowed with explicit permission. Thanks, Stan!

Rest in peace, Margs. Thank you for everything. I only hope that I gave you as much joy and love that you've given me. We didn't get nearly as much time together as we wanted to, but I grateful for every second of it. You will always be in my heart, and in my mind. Your kindness, generosity and bravery will always inspire me. I miss you very, very much, and I will always love you.

Finally put my copious amounts of down time to good use. Should be easier to navigate than the previous purely chronological format.

I am not exactly sure how this works with that whole gravity thing, but apparently squirrels know something we don't

The really sad thing is that I decided I need to used the flash to take a better picture... And scared the poor little thing so much that it dropped the french fry. :(

Sometimes you are the heron, sometimes you are the catfish. But you are on camera ALL the time.

No live flowers are allowed in the icu room. So Liza came up with a clever workaround. As I said at her and Jeff's wedding--"She's a doctor, she's much smarter than I am."

October sky, as seen from the hospital window..

Despite what the shirt says, this picture was actually taken almost exactly a year ago, on the third Sunday in October. Seems like it's been a lot longer than that.

Laughing through tears is better than not laughing at all. Hope everyone has a good race!

Ran before dawn Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Felt a little more alive afterwards. Also, for those who recall the comic, I've gone back and restored almost all of them. Yes, there's lots of down time in hospital rooms.

I might not be racing, but my boat is (and it still remembers who bought it first). :)

One of Margaret's coworkers, John, came down and made fun of the facial hair. Then he asked Margaret for her opinion. She agreed. Said fuzz was gone the next day, but documented for posterity.

I rented the bike from this bike shop. Much earlier, I had to buy a t-shirt there, because I ran out of clean clothes. That was before Pete started sending me care packages like it was his job. We love Pete.

Rented a bike yesterday, and rode it this morning. It's no Soloist, but it actually had the same Shimano R-550 wheels. Saw a doe cross the road. She proceeded to look calmly at a passing car, and bounded away as soon as she saw me. Guess I am more of a threat/rare species around here than a Ford Explorer. E.T.R. to Cambridge still unknown, but for about 100 minutes I didn't think about it. Too much. I almost didn't hate being here, but the return route took me right past the hospital. The war continues.

I will be in North Carolina until further notice. If you can think of the opposite of vacation, that's what I'll be doing. In the meanwhile, if you could say a prayer, do some voodoo or come with some kick ass medication for my favorite vegan, triathlete, rowing photographer, and well, everything, I would really appreciate it. Allez, Margs!

Timberman. Good race. Wish everything else was like that.

Saturday, August 16, 2008

Wow... All I can say is wow. Michelle, you are UNREAL! Way to go!

Friday, August 15, 2008

Cam, if you can guess who this is...I'll be impressed.

Club single is so 2007.. We probably won't sweep the champ single. But at least we have guaranteed entries. :)

Monday, August 11, 2008

Ah.. if only you really could get everything you wanted to eBay...

Sunday, August 10, 2008

Congrats to Heather in the single, el Jefe, Skip, Pedro and the Hashman in the four, Martha ,Carey, Ann, Ilse, Mary Foster, Alexis, Stef, Tina, and Heather in the eight, and the Jeff, Skip, Hash and Pete (again), plus Sean, Anders, Kit, Zouf and Leah for the eight. The light men's eight continues a winning streak which is now four years old. I am sure better pictures will be obtained at some point. Wish I was there. Really, really wish I was there. And a speedy recovery to Emerson, who had the misfortune to get hurt in Canada before racing in the eight. (Hence the picture in picture). Also, Ann and Carey were randomly selected as almost the only people in that eight who actually rowed sweep this year. :)

Now that it's been carried hands free, it's official-Jeff got a new boat. About time, the old one was almost as old as Hanley's.

I think a small sporting event started in Beijing today.

Thursday, August 07, 2008

While the kids are Henley, the Charles belongs to the Hanley. Word.

Wednesday, August 06, 2008

Recovering from a chest pull, biking through Harvard, MA. Chest pull obtained by playing little brother in basketball. Probably needed a break from rowing, anyway.

Duke Gardens... Lovely place, but I could use a lot less of it.

Sunday, August 03, 2008

This makes the Riverside "Captain America" res look very boring and tame.

Saturday, August 02, 2008

Zouf was planning to ride this to Canley, but then he realized it only had one wheel.
