I rented the bike from this bike shop. Much earlier, I had to buy a t-shirt there, because I ran out of clean clothes. That was before Pete started sending me care packages like it was his job. We love Pete.

Rented a bike yesterday, and rode it this morning. It's no Soloist, but it actually had the same Shimano R-550 wheels. Saw a doe cross the road. She proceeded to look calmly at a passing car, and bounded away as soon as she saw me. Guess I am more of a threat/rare species around here than a Ford Explorer. E.T.R. to Cambridge still unknown, but for about 100 minutes I didn't think about it. Too much. I almost didn't hate being here, but the return route took me right past the hospital. The war continues.

I will be in North Carolina until further notice. If you can think of the opposite of vacation, that's what I'll be doing. Congrats to Heather in the single, el Jefe, Skip, Pedro and the Hashman in the four, Martha ,Carey, Ann, Ilse, Mary Foster, Alexis, Stef, Tina, and Heather in the eight, and the Jeff, Skip, Hash and Pete (again), plus Sean, Anders, Kit, Zouf and Leah for the eight. The light men's eight continues a winning streak which is now four years old. I am sure better pictures will be obtained at some point. Wish I was there. Really, really wish I was there. And a speedy recovery to Emerson, who had the misfortune to get hurt in Canada before racing in the eight. (Hence the picture in picture). Also, Ann and Carey were randomly selected as almost the only people in that eight who actually rowed sweep this year. :)

Now that it's been carried hands free, it's official-Jeff got a new boat. About time, the old one was almost as old as Hanley's.

I think a small sporting event started in Beijing today.

While the kids are Henley, the Charles belongs to the Hanley. Word.

Recovering from a chest pull, biking through Harvard, MA. Chest pull obtained by playing little brother in basketball. Probably needed a break from rowing, anyway.
